The former child soldier who went on to become champion of ultra-trail recounts her battle for the women of Nepal, before guiding guests of the festival through two sports sessions. In the morning there will be a non-competitive all-female race and a yoga session in the afternoon. Mira Rai was born in a very poor village in Nepal. At the age of 13 she entered the Maoist army but soon after she discovered the extraordinary qualities she possesses for mountain running, which led her to quickly become one of the leading female competitors on the world skyrunning circuit. In 2017 she received the Adventure of the Year award from National Geographic. She was also the star of the film Mira, la corsa della libertà (Mira: the race of freedom), which was presented at the Trento Film Festival. Mira’s mission is to break down the inequality between men and women in her country.
