Alejandro Agag

The Spaniard, 49, is the man behind and owner of Formula E. He previously enjoyed a lengthy and precocious political career. He is the son-in-law of the former Spanish prime minister José Maria Aznar having married the latter’s daughter Ana and has served a number of roles both in the youth section of and the People’s Party proper in Spain. He also helped coordinate the European centre-right parties before becoming secretary of the European People’s Party. In 2001 he founded his own consultancy firm in London. He was chairman of a GP2 team (now Formula 2) and, for a short time, Queens Parks Rangers, where he remains a shareholder. Then he came up with Formula E which began in 2014 and is about to begin its sixth season. Another of his ideas came to fruition in 2012, Extreme E, an off-road rally in five iconic locations around the world using electric SUVs.
