Alessandra Marzari graduated with honours in Medicine and Surgery in 1986 before specialising in Emergency Surgery in 1991, qualifying with full marks. She is the Medical Director at the Accident and Emergency Department at the Niguarda Hospital in Milan. Since 2008, she has been the president of the six-club Vero Volley Consortium, which currently has two teams – one men’s team and one women’s team – in Italy’s top volleyball division. Since 2011, she has been a lecturer on the Executive Programme on Sports Management at Bocconi University and the FIFA Master’s Programme. Since 2012, she has managed the Palazzetto dello Sport in Monza, also known as the Candy Arena. Marzari was awarded a Leone d’Oro prize at the China Awards in 2014 and was presented with the Giovannino d’Oro prize – awarded to deserving citizens by the Municipality of Monza – in 2016. As of 2017, she is the vice president of the Women’s Volleyball League Association. She became an ambassador of the Comunità di San Patrignano in 2018.
