Andrea Ranocchia

Andrea Ranocchia was born in Assisi (Perugia) on 16 February 1988. A centre-back by trade, he began his career at the youth academy of his local team, Bastia, before moving to the Perugia academy in 2000. Ranocchia moved to the Arezzo youth academy in 2004, moving up to the first team and making his professional debut in Serie B in the 2006/07 season, under the stewardship of Antonio Conte. Ranocchia played for Bari between 2008 and 2010, during which time he won the Serie B title and went on to make his Serie A debut in a 1-1 draw with Inter on 23 August 2009. Ranocchia spent the following season at Genoa before joining Inter, where he has been since 2011 – apart from two loan spells at Sampdoria in 2016 and Hull City in 2017. He was part of the Inter team that won the Coppa Italia in the 2010/11 season. Ranocchia played for Italy between 2010 and 2016, winning 21 caps. He was also part of the Italy U21 side that came third in the European Championship in 2009.
