From Castelli Romani to Olympic gold in the Super-G at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. Daniela Ceccarelli inherited her passion for skiing from her father, a pilot in the Italian Air Force who first took her skiing in Campo Catino, near Frosinone. She trained under Toni Morandi at Selvino Ski Club and has lived in Cesana Torinese (Piedmont) for more than 20 years. She made her World Cup debut on 7 March 1996 and retired in 2010 after competing in 197 races. As well as Olympic gold she also secured three podium finishes in the World Cup (two Super-G and one downhill). She is married to Alessandro Colturi and her daughter Lara - born in 2010 - is a promising skier. A national coach, in recent years she has also worked as a co-commentator on skiing for RAI television.
