Davide Cassani

Davide Cassani was born on 1 January 1961 in Faenza. He rode professionally from 1982 to 1996. He represented Termolan (1982-1983); Santini (1984-1985); Carrera Jeans (1986-1987); Gewiss-Bianchi (1988-1989); Ariostea (1990-1993); GB-MG Boys (1994); MG Boys Maglificio (1995) and Saeco (1996). He won 27 races, including two stages of the Giro d’Italia (in Prato in 1991 and Lumezzane in 1993) and three titles in the Giro d’Emilia. He was the long-time directeur sportif for Alfredo Martini’s national team and, having served as co-commentator for Rai, he became manager of the national team in 2014. His best results include European gold for Matteo Trentin (2018) and Elia Viviani (2019), as well as Adriano Malori’s silver medal in the time trial at the world championship in Richmond in 2015.
