Born in Fano on 15 October 1976, Mazzanti took his seat in the Italy dugout for the first time on 26 May 2017. He led the national team to second place at the 2017 Volleyball World Grand Prix in Nanjing, China, and a silver medal at the 2018 Volleyball Women's World Championship in Japan. During his time with the national team, he has coached the juniors (2012-2014) and was also part of the coaching staff at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and London 2012. At club level, the 42-year-old has won a league title (2011) and a Supercoppa (2011) with Bergamo. He has won two other league titles during his career: one with Casalmaggiore in 2015 and another with Imoco Volley Conegliano in 2016, adding a Supercoppa (2016) and Coppa Italia (2017) to his honours' list with the Veneto-based club.
