Gianni De Magistris
Gianni De Magistris, the great friend and rival of Eraldo Pizzo, was an outstanding player and finished top of the scoring charts in the top division on 15 occasions between 1969 and 1984, as well as in Serie B and A-2. De Magistris was a key part of in the Rari Nantes Florentia side that won the Scudetto in 1976 and 1980. He took part in five Olympic Games, winning silver in 1976, and was part of the team that won gold at the World Aquatics Championship in 1978. Famous for his typically Tuscan frankness, as a coach he won the Scudetto, the European Cup and Supercup with Fiorentina Women and also clinched promotion to A-1 with Florentia two years ago. He has also been inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
