Italian biathlete Lisa Vittozzi was born in Pieve di Cadore (Bl) on 4 February 1995 and now lives in Sappada and competes for the Carabinieri. After starting out playing football and doing cross-country, Vittozzi decided to focus on the biathlon, which she initially trained for in Forni Avoltri with Eliseo Sartor. She won her first medal in the women’s relay at the 2015 Biathlon World Championships in Konthiolati. After winning the Olympic bronze medal in the mixed relay and finishing fourth in the individual mass start (the best result of any woman in the Italian delegation) in Pyeongchang, Vittozzi won another bronze in the mixed relay in the 2019 Biathlon World Championships in Ostersund, as well as the silver medal in the individual 15 km. She won the individual event at the Biathlon World Cup in 2018/19. In total, she has five wins and 19 podium finishes at the World Cup, finishing second overall last year behind fellow Italian Dorothea Wierer.
