Born in Florence on 21 January 1991 and raised in Etruria di Prato, Marta Pagnini began representing Italy in gymnastics at the age of 16 and served as captain between 2012 and 2016. She won a bronze medal at the London Olympics in 2012, two gold medals and six silver medals at the World Championships, over 50 medals at the World Cup, plus one silver and two bronzes at the European Championships. In 2013, she was awarded the title of Cavaliere al Merito of the Italian Republic. Pagnini has a degree in International Relations from the Catholic University of Milan and is studying for a Master’s in Sports Management at LUISS. She has written a book called “Fai tutto bene” [Do everything well]. As well as working as Competition Manager for the rhythmic gymnastics event at the recent Universiade in Naples, she now works at DMTC, a PR agency specialising in the world of sport. She obtained her license to serve as an international rhythmic gymnastics judge in 2017.
