Simona Quadarella

Born in Rome on 18 December 1998, Simona Quadarella – 170 cm in height, 63 kg in weight – swims for the Fiamme Rosse and Aniene teams and is coached by Christian Minotti. She is the reigning World Champion in the 1500 metres freestyle and a silver medallist in the 800 metres. She won the bronze medal in the 1500 metres freestyle and finished seventh in the 800 metres at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, before winning the gold medals in the 800 metres, the 1500 metres and the 400 metres freestyle (04:03.35) at the 2018 European Aquatics Championships in Glasgow, becoming the first Italian swimmer to win all three individual golds at the same event. She also won the gold medal in the 800 metres and 1500 metres freestyle at the 2017 Summer Universiade in Taiwan and is the Italian Champion in the 400 metres freestyle. Her personal bests are 04:03.35 in the 400 metres freestyle, 08:14.99 in the 800 metres freestyle and 15:40.89 in the 1500 metres freestyle, the latter two of which are Italian records. She won the bronze medal in the 800 metres freestyle at the 2017 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Copenhagen and came second in the same event at the 2018 FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m).
