Urbano Cairo is an Italian editor in chief who controls and leads the Cairo Communication Group, which is active in the television, publishing and advertising sectors with companies such as La7, Cairo Editore, Cairo Pubblicità and RCS MediaGroup, which publishes Corriere della Sera and Gazzetta dello Sport, as well as other newspapers and books, in Italy, and El Mundo, Marca and Expansion in Spain.
Urbano Cairo has been the owner and president of Torino FC since 2005. After graduating in economics and business from Bocconi University, his career began in 1991 when he joined the Fininvest Group and then Publitalia '80. Later that year, he became the managing director of Mondadori Pubblicità.
In 1995, he founded Cairo Pubblicità, which paved the way for a long path of entrepreneurial success, with the notable landmark moments including: Editoriale Giorgio Mondadori in 1999, being listed on the stock exchange in 2000, Cairo Editore in 2003, Torino FC in 2005, La7 in 2013 and RCS MediaGroup in 2016.
Urbano Cairo is a Cavaliere del Lavoro, an Italian order of merit for labour. He is a member of the FIEG presidential committee and the Confindustria Radio Televisioni general council. Cairo is married and has four children.
