Valentina Di Mattei
Valentina Di Mattei is a researcher at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, specialising in clinical psychology; she spearheads programmes to humanise medical treatment at the San Raffaele hospital in Milan. At present she is a lecturer in the psychology and medicine faculty of the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University. She held a course on the psychology of sport at the same university and has provided consultancy services to athletes and sports clubs alike. She thought up and leads the so-called Salute allo Specchio (‘health in the mirror’) project at the San Raffaele hospital, as part of which she launched Fit4Health, a therapeutic power walking programme, in 2017. Fit4Health is supported by institutional partners and consists of group walking sessions, held on a weekly basis and led by a certified personal trainer. The programme is aimed at women that have been diagnosed with cancer and those who, having overcome the disease, are seeking to preserve their psychological and physical well-being. She is the author and co-author of numerous scientific articles for Italian and international journals in the field of health psychology.
