Walter De Silva
Walter De Silva began his career in 1972 at the Fiat style centre. He has designed cars for Alfa Romeo, for which he designed the 156, 147 and 166 models, as well as all the brands of the Volkswagen group. At Seat he launched several strategic projects, such as the Salsa and Tango concept cars, and helped revamp the image of Audi. For the latter, his most famous creations are the A6, A8, A7, A4, A5, A3, A1, TT, Q7, Q5, Q3 and R8, for which he has received widespread international recognition. For the Audi A5, which the designer describes as the “most beautiful car” he has ever designed, he received the 2010 Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany. De Silva is also a recipient of the Compasso D’Oro prize, the Italian design award. His work is not limited to automobiles, however, with De Silva’s latest project focusing on the design of women’s shoes.
